Community

There is a great community spirit in Whitstable. Many of the resources available are used by locals. Local artists in the galleries, local crafts people selling along the high street.

Many of the shops, eateries and cafes are locally owned and run, it is good to support those when you visit rather than the common, larger high street names.

The Umbrella Centre

There is a community centre in the heart of the high street https://www.umbrellacentre.co.uk/ with a wealth of input locally.

They hold our Farmers Market, antiques and bric a brac markets, exercise classes, IT classes and mental health support. Puts on Gallery exhibitions and has one of the friendliest, welcoming cafes. The Cafe has food for all types, including looking after your allergies.

They also run a Hive co working space for local business that need a place to concentrate. With Wi Fi, desks, and a Cafe at hand.

Local Crafts

The Horsebridge is an art gallery and cafe and more https://thehorsebridge.org.uk/

They run classes and workshops for Adults and children. Film nights, talks, clubs and groups. A small shop where some local artists sell gifts.
